For 50 years, the Lincoln Center for Family and Youth has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs and challenges of its clients.

Now, a half century in, TLC cut the ribbon Aug. 26 on a new building, hastening a new era that will bring all of its programs together under one roof.

Being together in one place will bring a sense of one community to TLC workers. It will also make it easier to share information across the different programs.

The move means TLC can better serve and reach the community.

There is classroom space for TLC Leadership Academy students and their teachers and counselors.

The Leadership Academy is a private school for students in grades 7 through 12. It provides alternative education placement for students who need additional social, emotional and mental health support.

There’s also room for the Choices students, their teachers and support staff.

The Choices Program provides support and alternative ways of learning to students who may have trouble succeeding in a normal classroom setting.

Classes started in the new building on Aug. 30, with the rest of the team members following soon afterwards.

The new building also has office space for TLC staff who work in administration, counseling, funding, and more.

Importantly, there is now extra space for community counselors.

“While we have always prided ourselves in our flexibility to go to our clients, it has also become important for us to have space in-house for our clients to meet with our counselors,” states a TLC press release. “We hope these safe spaces we’ve created for counseling will continue to forward our mission in the community of helping individuals to heal and achieve their goals.”
