Intercept Program

Strengthening Families

The Intercept program provides intensive, in-home support to youth and families involved with Milwaukee Child Protective Services (CPS), focusing on crisis stabilization, family reunification, and long-term success. Services are guided by the Intercept Model, an evidence-based and trauma-informed approach that emphasizes individualized treatment planning, parenting support, and case coordination to promote safety and stability within the home.

When children are at high risk of entering foster care or have been taken into state custody, Youth Villages Intercept can step in to change a family’s trajectory with intensive support, new parenting and communication skills, and evidence- and strengths-based mental health intervention services.

  • Youth Villages Intercept serves children of any age (infant to age 18) who have serious emotional and behavioral problems or have experienced trauma, including abuse and/or neglect.
  • Prevention services last four to six months.
  • Family reunification services are six to nine months in duration.

Specialists deliver weekly in-home sessions, tailored to each family’s unique needs. Services may include crisis intervention, parenting skill development, coordination with community resources, and ongoing support to help families meet treatment goals.

With 24/7 availability, the Intercept team provides families with immediate assistance during crises, ensuring children can safely remain at home whenever possible or return home successfully following out-of-home placement.

Through this holistic and intensive model, Intercept helps families build resilience, strengthen relationships, and achieve lasting stability.
