00:00:00,000 –> 00:00:14,500 Welcome to TLC Connections, where educators, counselors, coaches, and community leaders come together to create real, lasting change for youth, families, and communities.
00:00:14,500 –> 00:00:29,920 (Sound bite) I actually think about this a lot, you know, being a social worker, working with young people, and we know from research that it just takes one, one adult figure in a person’s life to help them feel heard, validated, to help them be successful.
00:00:29,920 –> 00:00:35,560 Every other week, we explore stories of those who dedicate their lives to lifting others up.
00:00:35,560 –> 00:00:56,960 (Sound Bite) I’m in the field because I love people, I love relationships, I love the complexity of the mind that if you can figure out a way for a person to do their life a little bit better and take away their pain, that sense of hope that you can inspire somebody, that you can be a difference maker, that you can put a person at ease, like that is amazing stuff.
00:00:56,960 –> 00:01:03,280 In each episode, we uncover real-world strategies and inspiring stories to help guide your work and fuel your passion.
00:01:03,280 –> 00:01:16,920 (Sound Bite) One of my things I love doing is program development, being able to figure out what the child needs and bring that to the child. Being able to really personalize learning is like a core of my philosophy with educating students.
00:01:16,920 –> 00:01:47,800 From the classroom to the community, these are the people who inspire change and the strategies that lead to success. (Sound Bite) Again, it was like an upending thing that happened, but during that season, I really got clarity on what do I want my voice to be and I started building all of the materials and resources and stuff on trust, on change readiness, on belonging, on creating the environment and the relationships that are necessary to set leaders and followers and teams up for success.
00:01:47,800 –> 00:01:52,160 You’ll hear from thought leaders as they share their powerful stories and experiences.
00:01:52,160 –> 00:02:16,200 (Sound Bite) I was 14 years old, my first cousin, he was seven years older and he died by suicide. And I remember my aunt taking me into her bedroom and reading me the letter that he had left. I was in eighth grade. It was really powerful, the way my cousin conveyed how much she was suffering in silence. And it was really, just really, obviously had a huge impact that led me into the world of counseling.
00:02:16,200 –> 00:02:24,000 If you’re ready to take your impact to the next level, to transform lives and communities, then join us on TLC Connections.
00:02:24,000 –> 00:02:36,760 (Sound Bite) What I love about this organization is its mission. For the first time, probably in my entire professional career, the mission of the organization aligns with my own personal mission.
00:02:36,760 –> 00:02:43,040 Together, we’re transforming lives. One moment, one choice, one connection at a time.
00:02:43,040 –> 00:02:59,920 (Sound Bite) Just authentic relationships, you know, making an impact in systems, whether it’s at schools or hospitals or community settings. We’re there, we’re real, we’re genuine, and we’re trying with all of our heart and our soul to make an impact.
