Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP)

The Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) program addresses the effects of community and school violence on students in the Pottstown School District. Through a partnership with Eastern University (EU), TLC expands school-based mental health services by creating a pipeline of trained graduate-level counselors. EU’s Social Work and Clinical Counseling programs provide direct counseling and trauma-informed support to students impacted by violence. These services aim to reduce violent behaviors, improve access to quality mental health care, and help students heal from the psychological effects of violence exposure.

By combining prevention, intervention, and healing strategies, the VIP program works to create safer school environments and long-term positive outcomes for youth.

Prevention-Focused School Safety

The STOP School Violence program helps schools prevent violence and promote mental health through early intervention, relationship-building, and trauma-informed practices.

TLC partners with districts to:

  • Implement social-emotional learning initiatives

  • Train educators in restorative and trauma-informed practices

  • Educate students and families on prevention and mental health
